Kevin Garnett And Kevin McHale Teach Us All A Lesson In Life

Everyone has their opinions on Kevin Garnett whether you are with or against him.  A lot of people say he is a fake tough guy and a phony.  I will tell you one thing from my view is that Kevin Garnett is a serious person.  He means what he says and says what he means.  This small moment in sports during a time like today is proof of many things - Kevin's (both) emotions, there is more to life than basketball and so much more.

We know the history between Kevin McHale, Kevin Garnett, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics.  McHale was born and raised in Minnesota, played his college ball at Minnesota, drafted by the Celtics and played his entire career there.  Kevin Garnett was drafted by Kevin McHale, who was GM of the Timberwolves, was responsible for trading KG to the Celtics. So prior to all the tragedies between the passing of McHale's daughter a month ago and the shooting yesterday, this game had it's emotions at a high level already.

“I’m all over the place. Today has been a crazy day,” Garnett said. “I just want to say my condolences go out to the families in Connecticut. Anybody that has kids, niece, any kind of siblings, any kind of … someone they love, it’s just been a tough day. I just want to get it off my chest and say my condolences to all the parents out there. I seen Kevin (McHale) and had an emotional moment with him. So it’s been an emotional roller coaster today.”

The point of this post was just to remind everyone that there is more to life than basketball.  These two understand what's important in life.  This moment symbolizes humanity in the NBA.
